Camping Reservations:
Call ahead and make your camping reservations at
434-299-5228. Identify
yourself as a Blue Ridge River Runner member.
Wildwood offers nice camping sites with water and electric,
playgrounds, games and a swimming pool.
There is a $5.00 per person charge for visitors for use of
the facilities. Everyone
must check in at the office. Wildwood
is located on Rt. 130 approximately 1 mile east of the parkway
entrance.
Schedule of events:
Friday night will be liars night. Come gather around the campfire and tell your best lies about
your paddling buddies. Those
that aren’t there will be the buddies!
Saturday we will meet at the boat ramp in
Snowden on Rt. 130 at 8:30 to set shuttle.
We will be at Locher Landing at 9:00 to prepare to paddle the
James – first class to start at 9:30.
This year we will offer classes on safety, rope throwing,
paddling and rescue on the river at various locations.
We should be off the river by 3:00 for return to the
campground.
Picnic will start around 6:00 at the pavilion
in the campground. BRRR
will provide the food---barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips.
BRING YOUR OWN DRINKS.
Sunday will be Kids Day.
Come and let the younger paddlers enjoy a day on the river.
The club rafts will be available for the float.
An adult must accompany a child on the river.
Meet at the boat ramp on Rt. 130 in Snowden at 9:30 for
launch around 10:00. We should be off river around 3:00. Bring lots of suntan lotion, drinks, and food.
